One afternoon pick has been released.
Take Toronto Blue Jays (-140) on the ML against Baltimore Orioles risking 4.2% to win 3%.
(Happ and Wright must start for wager to have action)
After their walk off, extra innings victory last night, we believe the Toronto Blue Jays not only will have momentum on their side heading into this afternoon's contest, but will also have the advantage on the mound with J.A. Happ. Happ is a consistent veteran who is coming off of a rare poor outing in his last start. He has been a pitcher who has proven to shake those kinds of outings off and has the experience to bounce back in these situations. Ten of his 12 starts have been quality ones and he has also had a lot of success against this Baltimore lineup, holding them to just a .221 batting average!
Baltimore's Mike Wright on the other hand doesn't quite have the skills or experience needed to be a pitcher at the Major League level, at least not yet. He's has been inconsistent this season but is coming off of a rare quality start in his most recent trip to the mound against the Kansas City Royals. Wright was getting beat up on the mound with KC making contact at almost every at bat, only those hard hit balls were sent directly into his defense. We don't expect Wright to be that fortunate in this contest against a Blue Jays lineup who has hit him hard all three times they've faced him before. Not only is Wright's seasonal ERA and WHIP unimpressive this season, but against Toronto it is even worse. He has an ugly 7.94 ERA and 2.1 WHIP in his career against the Blue Jays!
Last night's game was important for Toronto, not only because they got the win, but also in the manner that they picked up the victory. They have been extremely unfortunate in closely contest games this season and needed to win a close game to get a bit of their confidence and swagger back! That victory could have been the turning point for this team. With this game being played on a short turnaround, there is no doubt the Jays players will come into this contest confident and looking to carry momentum over.
The Baltimore Orioles are a quality team, but they have been mediocre on the road this season. In fact out of all of the team in the league, the O's have played the least amount of road games this season! This afternoon they are also facing a left handed pitcher which is something that they have little experience with this season. They have proven to have an explosive offense against right handed pitchers, but when they have faced southpaws, their offense has struggled. We expect that to be the case this afternoon as well.
