There is one pick tonight.
Take Houston Astros (-135) on the ML against Cincinnati Reds risking 4.05% to win 3%.
(Fister and Hahn must both start for wager to have action)
Besides yesterday afternoon's loss to Zach Greinke, the Houston Astros have been playing well recently, and so have their opponents; the only difference is that we don't believe the Oakland A's can maintain their success. Also the day off yesterday certainly doesn't help a red hot Oakland team. It will have likely halted their momentum heading into this matchup.
Yesterday was Houston's first day back at home after a road trip and history has shown that those games are often the toughest. They now they find themselves in a better position with a veteran hurler that has been consistent.
Doug Fister managed to have a great, May, going 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA in six starts with 25 strikeouts compared to just 11 walks! He has actually been Houston's most reliable starter, averaging 6 innings, with 7 of his 10 starts being quality ones. The Astros bullpen has also finally started to show life with players like Giles, Neshek and Will Harris all playing at a high level. They set a new MLB record for striking out Baltimore hitters before having more success against Arizona in the home-and-home series that just ended.
The Houston offense was blanked last night and they have typically bounced back after that, having gone 2-0 this season and 17-9 after getting shut-out over the last 3 years! The Astros have the advantage in this contest and at these reduced odds, there is definitely value on the home team.
