There are two picks tonight.

#1: Take Cincinnati Reds (+101) on the ML against Arizona D-backs risking 3% to win 3.03%.
(Bailey and Bradley must start for wager to have action)

Homer Bailey hasn't exactly gotten the respect that he deserves from the oddsmakers. There is no question that Bailey hasn't quite lived up the expectation that were set upon him by this Reds organization, however he is still a pitcher who has a ton of upside. He is coming off an extremely poor performance in his most recent start where he gave up 9 hits and 6 earned runs in just 2.3 innings of work against the LA Dodgers. To be fair, it's certainly worth mentioning that the Dodgers are currently atop the NL West and are likely headed to the postseason this year. The Arizona Diamondbacks are not the LA Dodgers and we expect Bailey to have a much better showing in this contest. Before getting beat up by LA, he was pitching extremely well, giving up just 9 total hits and a single earned run in 11 innings of work. We expect him to return to form for this contest.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are among the worst teams in the league this season. They have the worst home record in all of baseball at 24-43 and also have a losing record when playing during the day. Pitching has been a real issue for Arizona as they rank among the last in the league in ERA and have been extremely hittable this season. Both their starting rotation and bullpen have been giving up a ton of runs and we don't expect anything different today.

Archie Bradley will take the mound for Arizona and he comes into this contest struggling having given up 11 earned runs in his last 14 innings of work. He has struggled at home this season as well going just 1-4 with a 6.16 ERA and 1.570 WHIP. The Diamondbacks are just 3-6 on the season when Bradley has taken the mound at home. Bradley also struggled against the Reds earlier this season where he gave up 3 earned runs, including a home run while walking 4 batters in just 5 innings of work. The Reds bats have seemingly come alive in the second half of the season and we expect that they will be able to score some runs this afternoon, given the way that Bradley has struggled.

The Reds bats came alive last night as they put up 13 runs while holding the DBacks scoreless. While we aren't expecting another shutout this afternoon, we do believe the Reds will have the advantage both on the mound and at the plate in this contest and they should be able to keep the momentum going and come away with a closely contested victory this afternoon.

#2: Take Boston Red Sox (-146) on the ML against KC Royals risking 4.38% to win 3%.
(Rodriguez and Ventura must start for wager to have action)

The Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals conclude their 3 game series tonight from Fenway Park. The Red Sox rebounded from a Game 1 defeat and completely dominated the Royals in Game 2. What was most impressive about that victory was the fact that the Boston bats were able to do a lot of damage to Danny Duffy in that contest. Duffy had been the Royals best and most consistent starter on the season have won 10 straight starts and the Red Sox made him look like an amateur. That goes to show just how explosive the Boston bats are this season and tonight they will look to keep their momentum going as they square off against Yordano Ventura.

Ventura has been wildly inconsistent on the season and comes into this contest with an 9-9 record and 4.62 ERA. He has been pitching well in his past couple of starts holding both the Miami Marlins and Detroit Tigers offenses at bay, however he has had his issues with the Red Sox in his career as he owns a 5.48 ERA and 1.609 WHIP in 4 career starts! In his start back in May, Ventura gave up 7 hits and 4 earned runs in under 6 innings of work. If he has a similar showing tonight we're not sure the KC bats will be able to bail him out.

Eduardo Rodriguez will take the mound for Boston for this contest. Rodriguez has had somewhat of a disappointing season, however over the past few weeks he has really started to find his groove. Over his last 3 contests he has a very respectable 2.32 ERA. What's most impressive about those outings is the fact that they came against the Yankees, Orioles and Dodgers, three teams who have extremely explosive offenses and have been playing extremely well recently. Being able to navigate through those teams' lineups, Rodriguez should have little issue with KC's inconsistent bats tonight.

There is no question that the Royals have been playing extremely well recently and are in the midst of a length winning streak. That being said, they are about to run into a buzz saw tonight in a Boston Red Sox team that is fighting for first place in the AL East. This will likely be a closely contested matchup, however we expect the Red Sox bats to remain hot and come away with the timely hits needed to come away with the victory.
