Sports Profit System has had an incredibly profitable MLB season thanks to an unrivaled 90-65 record!
In NFL, after an easy cover with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football, we are passing on Thursday's game. That's because while the opening number (spread) had value, it quickly moved and no longer warrants a wager.
There is one college football selection tonight.
Take Georgia Southern at +7 spread against Appalachian State for 3% of the bankroll.
This matchup is a showdown between two of the top teams in the Sun Belt Conference! Both Georgia Southern an Appalachian State come into this contest undefeated in conference play and the winner likely sets itself up for the fast track to the Sun Belt title.
The Georgia Southern Eagles are on the most offensively potent teams in the country as they run a vaunted tripe option style ground attack. The ability to create misdirection requires a lot of discipline by opposing teams as just a single missed assignment could allow a runner a clear path to the end zone. The Eagles offense is built around Michael Breida who has been an absolute beast on the ground this season. Breida has rushed for over 137 yards in each of his last two contests and has already carried the ball 85 times for an incredible 875 yards and 11 touchdowns! He is complimented by Alfred Ramsey who has amassed 377 yards on 68 attempts and 6 touchdowns himself on the season. Ramsey has been a force as of late and has scored at least 2 touchdowns in each of the teams last 2 games.
The Appalachian State Mountaineers are a solid, balanced team and have an above average run defense this season, however it will surely be tested in this contest. This pits the number 1 rushing offense in the conference against the number 1 rated rushing defense so something is sure to give. These teams are no strangers to each other from back in their FCS days. Last season it was Georgia Southern who came away with a convincing victory and we believe they can do it again this season. There are a lot of people pointing to Southern' s embarrassing 44-0 loss to West Virginia to open up the season, however it's worth mentioning that QB Kevin Ellison was out for that contest and his backup Favian Upshaw threw 4 interceptions in that game. Last season Ellison managed to run for 151 yards and threw for 73 against this same Mountaineers defense and he will likely be the key in this contest.
As we has stated, this is a battle between the top two teams in the conference and it should be a closely contested one with either team being able to win this game. The Mountaineers have an advantage with this being played on their home turf, however the fact that Southern relies so much on a ground based attack should nullify much of the crowd’s impact on this game. The Eagles are undefeated (11-0) in conference play since joining the FBS a year ago and there is a reason for that. They are one of the most offensively prolific teams not only in the conference, but in the country and very few teams have been able to slow down their running attack. Appalachian State may have some success defending the run early on, but it's only a matter of time before the Eagles ground game wear down the defense and starts to pick up big chunks of yards at a time. This is a team that has thrived in the second half of ball games and tonight should be no different. Georgia Southern will keep this game within a touchdown, if not win this one outright.
