A total of 3 NCAA college football picks are being released a day in advance, for Saturday.

The college basketball season starts tonight and we could not be more excited! There is no doubt that SPS will come out on top as it does with every sport since true success is defined by seasonal results and NOT temporary streaks. Having said that, we'll do what we did with most sports and that is to lay low in the very early stages. We are passing on the opening weekend of CBB games.

Take Houston Rockets at -5 spread against Denver Nuggets for 3% of the bankroll.

These two clubs met in the season opener in what was a shocking blowout win for the Nuggets! Mike Malone's side caught the Rockets by surprise on that night winning 105-85 in Houston! The Rockets had come into that game somewhat complacent believing they are the much better team based on last year. Currently both teams are 4-4 on the season and yet one is laying 5 points on the road! You'd have to ask yourself why? There are several good reasons behind that.

Kevin McHale was a tenacious and determined player and his squad has adopted his personality. They are an incredibly dangerous team when they play with a chip on their shoulder and that's what we expect from them tonight! That's because this is not only a 'revenge' game for them but they are coming off a disappointing loss to the previously winless Brooklyn Nets! After winning 4 games in a row, they had once again gotten a bit full of themselves but were brought back down to earth by the hungrier team, Nets. Now fresh off an embarrassing home defeat to lowly opposition, they have the opportunity to improve to 5-4 while sending the Nuggets to a 4-5 record. Ty Lawson was the point guard for this Denver squad for quite awhile and will have a point to prove to his former teammates and the team's front office! Similarly James Harden and Dwight Howard will be in a 'bad mood' and will be keen to not only get the W but send a message to the team that blew them out on their own court.

Opposing them will be a Nuggets squad that is in transition mode and has some very young pieces. Starting PG, Emmanuel Mudiay is talented but has a lot to learn at this level and boasts one of the worst assist-to-turnover ratios in the league! Shooting guard, Garry Harris, meanwhile is only in his 2nd year and Center, JJ Hickson is only starting games because Jusuf Nurkic and Joffrey Lauvergne are both out injured. Hickson will have a tough task ahead of him having to battle the bigger and stronger Dwight Howard tonight. There is a chance Howard may miss this game (game-time decision) but we expect him to play and help the Rockets even up the series against the Nuggets. He didn't play in the season opener against Denver and the results were not pretty, therefore we expect McHale to utilize him tonight. It should be noted that Hickson and teammates have been terrible from the charity stripe this season and that is one of their primary downfalls. The Nuggets are not a good free-throw shooting team and that often makes for very nervy 4th quarters!

With Wilson Chandler out for the season, this is a fairly young team that has a long way to go before they're meshing together perfectly. They have a lot of empty offensive possessions and are still not a solid defensive club. They were quite fortunate to win their last 2 games at home but we don't forsee that happening tonight. They will be up against a motivated and angry Houston squad that should not only win but cover the spread.

Other notable facts to consider:

  • Rockets are 41-24 ATS after playing a game as a favorite over the last 2 seasons!
  • Nuggets are just 9-21 ATS as an underdog of 3.5 to 9.5 points over the last 2 seasons!
  • Rockets have covered 40 of 60 games after a non-conference matchup over the last 3 seasons!
