There is one NBA pick tonight.
The 76ers covered against the Cavs as expected last night while the Panthers blew a 17-point lead in the final minutes of the 4th quarter. Even after that unfortunate narrowly missed cover, SPS has won 11 of its last 13 football picks!
Take Memphis Grizzlies at -4 spread against Sacramento Kings for 3% of the bankroll.
The Memphis Grizzlies are coming off one of their most embarrassing performances in history, losing by a franchise record worst 50 points to the defending NBA champions, Warriors! The Grizzlies are a veteran team and are much better than the performance they put in last night and we expect them to show everyone that. There is not a player on that roster who won't be looking to atone for last night's performance and the fact that David Joerger rested a majority of his starters in the 4th quarter, will mean that they are fresh and eager to come out and make a statement in this contest.
The Sacramento Kings are still a team that is looking to find their identity and now have to deal with the loss of their best player in DeMarcus Cousins. Cousins is no doubt the catalyst of this offense and his sheer size and ability is a big advantage Sacramento usually has over their opponents. The Grizzlies are one of the biggest teams down low with Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph crowding the paint and even when Cousins had been in the lineup, the Grizzlies have owned the Kings in recent meetings, winning 9 of the last 10 meetings and 17 of 20 overall, outscoring the Kings by an average of 10.2 points! The Grizzlies will be angry and want to send a message in this contest and that likely won't bode well for the Kings. Zach Randolph is averaging 20.5 points on 59.3 percent shooting in his last 4 games in Sacramento!
The Kings are a team that has never really focused on defense. They are a run and gun team that simply tries to outscore their opponents on each given night. That is actually the opposite of the style that Memphis tries to employ. When the Kings shots are not falling or they are being defended well and not putting points on the board, it is incredibly difficult for the on the other end of the floor to keep their opponents from scoring. Their utter lack of a defensive presence is a big reason why the Kings have failed to take the next step despite some of the talent on their roster.
Sacramento also comes into this contest off extra rest (2 days off). This early in the season extra time off is not actually beneficial for a team especially for the Kings who are just 6-17 ATS when playing on 2 days rest over the last 3 seasons! In the early part of the season teams are still in the process of creating chemistry and adjusting to game speed, having an extended break in the middle of that often creates more regression than a benefit.
The fact that Memphis played a game last night should really have no bearing on this contest tonight, however the Kings find themselves in a somewhat unenviable spot of having to travel to Phoenix and play the Suns tomorrow. This is a game that has a potential blowout written all over it and if the Grizzlies create a large lead, the Kings may find themselves doing what David Joerger did and rest their starters late in the game. There is no doubt that the Grizzlies are the better team and having been embarrassed last night, we don't expect them to show any mercy in this contest. They should cover this small spread in a bounce back win!
