Sports Profit System has now won 7 in a row! It isn't short term results, however, that we concern ourselves with. The goal has always been to finish the MLB season with the highest profit among all handicappers and to top charts as we did in NFL and NBA, and that objective remains a likely possibility.
Our previous record sits at 9 consecutive winners, a feat that has been achieved on 3 separate occasions!
Take Chicago White Sox as underdogs (+106) on the Money Line against NY Yankees risking 3% of bankroll.
(Rodon and Eovaldi must start for wager to have action)
The White Sox are back home at Cellular Field after an impressive road trip that put them right back in post-season contention! Their recent uprise coupled with the slide of the Indians as well as the Tigers' decision to be sellers has given them a real boost. They suddenly have a shot at grabbing one of the Wild card spots and even though we believe they will ultimately fall short in that quest, this now gives them plenty of incentive going into each and every game! Not many clubs need added motivation when facing the mighty Yankees but the South Siders have plenty and should give Joe Girardi and his team some difficulties tonight.
The Yankees sit comfortably atop the AL East division for the time being despite dropping their last two games in Texas. After the explosive manner in which that series started for them, they will be deflated by the narrow loss in the rubber match last night. It was Jacoby Ellsbury's error that allowed Ryan Rua to score an inside the park home run! That tied the game at 5-5 and shifted momentum toward the Rangers. New York will want to bounce back tonight but it won't be easy after their travel and that hard fought series especially since the White Sox themselves are in bounce back mode themselves having finally lost last night. After embarrassing the Red Sox in Boston for the first 3 games of the series, they were denied the sweep and will now look to put together a new winning streak.
Nathan Eovaldi is an improved pitcher compared to last year but his win-loss record is extremely generous and not a true indicator of how he has pitched. He's fortunate to have won as many games as he has and that has largely been due to the excellent amount of run support that the offense has provided him. With Brian McCann and some of New York's other big bats out of the lineup tonight, we don't believe they will bail him out as they have in the past. He'll need to outpitch Carlos Rodon and we don't believe that will happen tonight. After issueing free passes and having command issues in some of his previous starts, Rodon turned the page and put in a real quality start lasting 7 innings and out-dueling Danny Salazar! He is starting to get comfortable on the big league mound and is growing in confidence. None of the Yankee bats have faced him before which is why it'll likely take them a couple of orders through the lineup to get used to his style and delivery. That will give Robin Ventura's club an early advantage and the likelihood of turning to the bullpen with the lead.
It has been awhile since Eovaldi has had a poor outing and we believe he's in danger of having one tonight as he faces a revitalized White Sox offense that has been seeing the ball very well recently. Melky Cabrera is among the top 5 in batting average since June 21st and Adam LaRoche has 7 hits in just 19 previous at-bats against the flame-throwing righty! There are a few other Chicago players that have had success against Eovaldi and we believe that makes him vulnerable. There is a reason nearly 80% of the public is betting on the popular Yankees on this Friday night and yet the odds have stayed where they opened with minimal shift! That's because the sharps see value on the underdogs and believe they can edge what should be a close game. Chicago has momentum and belief coming into this contest as they are welcomed back by their fans.
Other notable facts to consider:
- The White Sox lead the AL with 112 double-plays this season!
- The White Sox have won 7 of their last 8 games!
- The White Sox are 14-8 at home when the total is set at 8 or 8.5 runs.
