There is one pick tonight.
Take New Orleans Pelicans at -2.5 spread against Washington Wizards for 3% of the bankroll.
The Pelicans have not had a lot of success against the Washington Wizards in the past as they have dropped their last 8 meetings in the series. There is no doubt the Pelicans will be motivated to change their recent fortunes in this series and should have a good shot to do so with Washington having key pieces missing from their front court in this contest. Nene and Drew Gooden will both be side lined in this contest and Kris Humphries is listed as questionable. Even if Humphries plays, he will not be 100%.
While these three players are not normally considered "elite superstars" they are incredibly important role players for this team. These are rim protectors and their big presence down low are used not only to defend the basket, but also rebound the ball and grab second chance opportunities. Without them in the lineup, it will make things difficult for Washington as the Pelicans will no doubt have the size advantage in this contest. Having a small lineup will surely make things difficult going up against the likes of Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson. There is also a chance that we could see Kendrick Perkins take the floor tonight and while he is not necessarily a force on offense, Perkins does provide more size to the floor for the Wizards to try and navigate around.
The Pelicans were a team that had high expectation heading into the season and things have just not played out quite how they envisioned. They are just 5-16 on the season and currently occupy the basement in the Southwest division. The only team that has done worse this season is the struggling Los Angeles Lakers. While they have no doubt, struggled there is still hope as the Pelicans are as healthy as they have been all season long. If they want to salvage this season, this is a team that needs to win and win now. They have dropped 5 of their last 6 games and are no doubt hungry for a victory. These are exactly the types of games that this team needs to win, especially given the advantages that they should have in this contest.
We also believe that there is a reason why the oddsmakers have instilled a 5-16 team who has dropped 8 straight game to their opponents are listed as 3 point favorites in this contest. Finally being healthy should help turn their fortunes, especially since they are catching the Wizards in such a vulnerable spot. New Orleans always seems to "get up" for these types of games; especially at home as evidenced by their impressive 21-8 ATS in their last 29 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. There should be plenty of scoring between these two offensive minded teams, but New Orleans is better suited to get the critical stops when needed down the stretch and that should allow them to pick up the win and cover this short number.
