Compared to last night's 3 picks,
we are taking it easy with just 1 lean tonight since there are no NBA
and less MLB games scheduled than usual and finding value is a bit harder.
Originally a second MLB pick was planned but after further consideration,
it has been discarded. We'll be back with more NBA and MLB action tomorrow.
Take NY Mets on the Money Line (-115) against Pittsburgh
Pirates risking 1% (Gee and Locke must start)
Both the Pirates and the Mets have been struggling
as of late but while the Pirates have won just 1 of their last 4 games,
they are still battling for the top spot in the Central. They however
have not had much recent success against the Mets as they are just 1-5
in the last 6 meetings in the big apple. Pittsburgh have an uneviable 3-12 all-time record
at the Citi Field.
Tonight the Mets hope to get a much needed win
and will attempt to do so behind the arm of Dillon Gee who has had his
struggles but has won two of his last three starts. For the season Gee
has allowed 39 hits and 21 earned runs while striking out 19 over 30.2
innings of work. While Gee's ERA may scare some bettors off, he does
have a perfect lifetime record when facing these Pirates. Gee is 2-0 lifetime against Pittsburgh and his ERA shrinks drastically
down to a minute 1.71! Its also worth noting that Dillon Gee has produced
a team record of 11-0 in his career when coming off a start where he
threw between 60 to 90 pitches.
The Pirates will counter tonight with Jeff Locke
( 3-1, 3.21 ERA) who hasn't lost since his first start of the year.
For the season Locke has allowed 26 hits and 12 earned runs while striking
out 19 over 33.2 innings of work. Pittsburgh however is just 2-6 in Locke's last
8 starts on the road.
With both teams struggling, its difficult to see
a clear cut winner in this match-up but historical and recent trends
do strongly back Gee and the Mets in this game. Mets took 5 out of 7 meetings against Pittsburgh
last season outscoring them 34-25 and will look to continue
that tonight. About 75% of the public is on Pirates and yet the line
opened at -110 but has since moved the other way to -115. The price is right for a small play (minimum bet) on the home team tonight.
