#1: Take Wisconsin Badgers at -14.5 spread against Purdue Boilermakers risking 3 Units
It has been a rebuilding year for the Purdue Boilermakers and it has shown recently as Purdue has dropped four of their last five games. Purdue has also struggled in conference play this season with just a 6-9 record. They have not been a particularly strong road team either going just 3-7 on the road but what stands out the most is the fact that Purdue has struggled against the upper echelon of teams this season as they are 0-7 against teams ranked in the top 25. As a team, Purdue's statistics are mediocre at best. They are averaging 64.3 points, 13.3 assists, and they are shooting 41.5 percent while defensively they are allowing 64 points per game.
Wisconsin on the other hand is one of the powerhouses of the division and at home they have been completely dominant. The Badgers have won their last three games and six of their last seven. They have surged up the Big 10 standings and national rankings. Wisconsin is 11-4 in the Big Ten, 15-2 at home this season and they are ranked 17th in the nation. As a team Wisconsin is averaging 67 points, 13.6 assists, and their opponents are shooting 43 percent while defensively they are allowing just 55 points, 8.3 assists, and their opponents are shooting 39.2 percent. The Wisconsin defense has been the difference makers in most game. Teams just do not realize how smothering this Wisconsin defense is until they see it for themselves.
Wisconsin is 4-0-1 against the spread in their last five games overall, 26-12 ATS against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS following a win by 20 or more points.
Purdue is 1-4-1 ATS in their last six road games and 5-15-1 ATS against a team with a winning record. Home court and defense is going to be too much for Purdue, Wisconsin wins this game easily. Lay the points
#2: Take Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at +3.5 spread against NC State Wolfpack risking 3 Units.
These two teams squared off on Jan 9th at NC State with State pulling out a 83-70 win at home. It's worth noting that NC State trailed for a majority of that game and were down by 4 with 10 minutes left to play before going on a run to end the game.
Wolfpack won two of the last three trips to Georigia Tech, however they're just 2-5 in conference play on road this season and 0-3 as road favorites. Their road wins this season are by 5 points at Boston College and just a single point on a last second 3 pointer at Clemson in a game where they once agains trailed for a majority of the game.
Home underdogs in the ACC of 5 or less points are 13-7 vs spread this season. Georgia Tech needs just one more win to ensure a "winning season". After playing tough in their first game just a few weeks ago I think Tech comes out and puts on another solid performance at home today. They recently beat a good Maryland team on Wednesday and should do enough to keep this game from getting out of hand. Take the points.
#3: Take Indiana Pacers at -7 spread against Chicago Bulls risking 3 Units
The Bulls have been winning games this season by typically having an advantage on the defensive end of the ball as well as a rebounding advantage against most teams. Tonight the bulls will not have that kind of advantage against this Pacers team as Indiana ranks top of the league in both categories.
The Pacers have been arguably the hottest team in the league over the last month. Indiana has continued to dominate winning 7 of the last 8 games. Indiana's defense has been the calling card for this team but the offense has started to pick up with the return of All Star player Danny Grainger. The addition of Grainger in the lineup instantly adds more of an offensive spark to a team who has recently turned its offense "on". If the Pacers can continue to score points and their defense continues to shut teams down, this will be one scary team to play come playoff time. The Pacers physical style should match-up well against Bulls and without a doubt this will be the best game on the card tonight.
Having said that the Bulls are in the second half of a back to back game and with an offense that has struggled against good defenses, this will just be too much for them to overcome today. The Pacers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games while the Bulls are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 against Central teams.
