There are two picks today.
#1: Take Belgium to Qualify (advance) as +178 underdogs against Argentina risking 2%
This wager means we are betting on the capable underdogs Belgium to advance to the next round by eliminating Argentina.
Whether this game is won in regulation (90 minutes), in extra-time or in penalty shoot-outs does NOT matter.
#2: Take KC Royals (+109 underdogs) on the Money Line against Cleveland Indians risking 2%
(Guthrie and House must start)
The Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Indians continue their series tonight when they square off in Game 2 of their 3-game set. The Royals have been quietly heating up again as they have won 5 of their last 7 games and currently find themselves 5 games above .500! The Royals offense has been the main reason having produced 4 or more runs in 6 of their last 8 games. Omar Infante has safely gotten on base in 9 of his last 10 games and Lorenzo Cain has 7 RBI's over that same span! The Royals have power and skill in their lineup and when they “see” the ball well, they are an extremely tough team to beat.
On the mound, Kansas City is in the top half of the middle in terms of ERA. Their pitching staff has been solid with a 3.67 ERA which is good for 13th in the league. Jeremy Guthrie will get the start for the Royals this evening. The veteran is 5-6 with a 3.69 ERA this season. After somewhat of a rough start to the season, he has been pitching very well recently getting the win in 2 of his last 3 starts and reducing his ERA to 2.14 in those starts!
The Indians appear to simply be treading water recently, playing mediocre ball as they have split their last 8 games and are currently 3 games below .500. Their offense has been wildly inconsistent. They do have the ability to put runs on the board but they are struggling at the moment scoring 3 or less runs in 4 of their last 7 games.
The Indians pitching staff hasn't been getting it done on the mound either and have been a cause for concern. The pitching staff has a combined ERA of 4.01 which is in the bottom half of the league and rank 23rd overall. Cleveland will send T.J. House to the hill this evening and it hasn't exactly been the type of season that he had hoped for. He is 0-2 with a 4.28 ERA through 6 starts!
Kansas City is currently second in the division only 4 games behind Detroit. The Royals have been one of the few teams who don’t seem to be fazed by playing on the road. They are 24-18 away from Kauffman Stadium this season and are a tough out with their capable bats. All things are clicking for them right now and we believe the Royals should be small favorites rather than small underdogs tonight.
Other notable facts to consider:
- The Royals are 4-1 in Guthrie's last 5 road starts!
- The Indians are a terrible 2-7 in their last 9 games vs. a right-handed starter.
- Jeremy Guthrie is 16-7 against division opponents over the last 2 seasons.
