After an incredibly lucrative period from Jan 1st to May 31st, the month of June didn't go quite as planned. Nonetheless it finished with 3 winners and more importantly marked the end of a successful first half to the year and a 6-month period in which we've profited more than others!

Those that claim to win 12 out of 12 months are the very same services that refuse to be honest, accurate and transparent with their record keeping.

We are confident in doubling if not bettering our profit in the second half of the year since it includes our most lucrative sports (NFL and College Football) and the fact that, historically, our MLB results have always improved after the All-Star break!

There are again two picks today.

The World Cup pick is once again for regulation (90 minutes + stoppage time) and does NOT include extra-time or penalty shootouts.

#1: Take Belgium on the Money Line (+105) against USA risking 2%

#2: Take Miami Marlins (-134) on the Money Line against Philadelphia Phillies risking 2%
(Alvarez and Burnett must start)

The Philadelphia Phillies travel to Marlins Park to take on Miami in Game 1 of their 3-game set. These two teams met just last week in Philadelphia where the Marlins took 2 of 3 in that series. Neither of these teams have played well lately. Both have had difficulties on the offensive end and are currently riding a losing streak. While it is always tough to back a struggling team, this is usually where the most value lies and we feel that is the case today.

Despite their recent struggles, the Marlins are not a bad team. They started off the season in dominant fashion, especially at home. Although they have regressed a bit, their bats are still a threat with guys like Giancarlo Stanton and Marcell Ozuna in the lineup. Ozuna recently pinch-hit his 14th homerun of the season! This is exactly the type of game that the Marlins need to win at home in order to remain in contention for a playoff spot.

The Marlins will send Henderson Alvarez to the mound tonight. Alvarez is having a spectacular season and has undoubtedly been the Marlins' most productive starter. He is 5-3 with an impressive 2.32 ERA on the season! With Jose Fernandez out injured, the Marlins have backed their new "Ace" this season going 11-5 when Alvarez takes the mound. In Marlins park, he has been especially terrific and shone time and time again. Alvarez is 4-1 with an even more impressive 1.42 ERA through 8 starts! He has struck out 35 while walking only 8 batters. The Marlins are 7-1 when Alvarez has taken the mound at home this season.

The Philadelphia Phillies have had their share of problems on the offensive end this season. The Phillies have dropped 8 of their last 10 games and have scored more than 3 runs only twice during that span! Philadelphia is 10 games under the .500 mark and although their lineup has some power, they are not scoring runs. They are also not getting things done on the defensive end and have committed 5 errors in their last 3 games!

There is no question that the confidence of this Phillies team is shaken at the moment and they have fallen into the proverbial "rut". When a team doubts itself and lets the frustration consume them, it shows in their play on the field. That is what is happening to the Phillies at the moment. Until they start playing with confidence and a sense of urgency, we expect them to continue to struggle. Miami has been solid at home and has their "Ace" on the mound. Both of these teams want to win but the Marlins should have the edge in this one.

Other notable facts to consider:

  • Marlins won last eight Alvarez starts!
  • AJ Burnett is 85-118 in road games in his career.
  • Phillies are 79-104 against right-handed starters over the last 2 seasons.
