A remarkable week saw SPS and its clients profit 12 units minus juice! It isn't ultimately weekly but monthly figures that matter however.
There are a few teams we lean towards tonight but on what is a smaller card, only one team presents great value in our opinion. The Mavericks are the only wager.
Take Dallas Mavericks at -2.5 spread against New York Knicks risking 2%
The surging Dallas Mavericks travel to Madison Square Garden to take on the struggling New York Knicks tonight. The Mavericks are playing some great basketball at the moment winning eight of their last ten games. Dallas is averaging 107.5 points per game in their last 12 games and have gotten themselves to eleven games over the .500 mark and are nearly a shoe-in to make the playoffs this season. Dirk Nowitzki is once again having a great season and is the catalyst for this offense. He is averaging 24.5 points on 57% shooting from the field and is hitting nearly 50 percent from three point range! Dallas is a dangerous team from beyond the arc and defending the perimeter is one of Knicks' main weaknesses.
After a great regular season last year, the Knicks are having a season to forget! They can't seem to do anything right and have lost 5 of their last 6 games heading into this contest. After losing to the lowly Orlando Magic, an even bigger blow came in their last game when they lost to a struggling direct rival in Atlanta Hawks! That was a game they were on their way to win and that defeat may have just knocked the wind out and deflated them. The Knicks are making headlines right now but it's not the kind of press that most teams like to receive. Currently there is a lot of media attention on their efforts to buy out the contracts of Metta World Peace and Beno Udrih. Both of these players have somewhat fallen out of the rotation so their absence won't be felt too much on the court but the fact that the Knicks are working to release them could mean the front office is giving up on the current season. When that happens it often trickles down to the players on the court. When upper management basically stops believing in the team, more often than not the players start to follow. There is uncertainty over Mike Woodson's job and even rumours about whether Carmelo will still be in NY next year. Add in the injuries to Shumpert, Kenyon Martin and Andrea Bargnani and the task gets tougher.
A lot of people are still expecting the Knicks to at some point "turn things around", but it simply has not happened and yet people continue to wait. We believe the time for waiting is over and the Knicks are slowly accepting their fate. They have a very small chance of making the playoffs even in the much weaker Eastern conference and this is a team with some fundamental issues. While Carmelo Anthony will put up his points on a given night, any semblance of a "team effort" has fallen by the wayside. In order to keep up with this potent Dallas offense, it is going to take a concentrated team effort and that is something the Knicks have very rarely displayed this season.
Dallas has shown that they are capable of playing on the road and have actually have been a team that has been extremely kind to their backers on the highway. Dallas is an impressive 20-10 ATS away from home this season making them one of the most profitable teams in the league on the road. The Knicks meanwhile have the exact opposite home record. At 10-20 ATS the Knicks have been a money burning machine at Madison Square Garden! With this spread being so low and given the dominance that the Mavericks have shown on the road, we feel that this number is a couple of baskets too low. We have seen the Knicks "give games away" to the Magic and the Hawks recently and those two teams are not nearly the caliber of team that the Mavericks are. Dallas is not only the better team but much more settled and confident coming into this game and should have no issue covering this low number. The Knicks also have a date with the Miami Heat in their next game so their focus may not be 100% where it should be tonight. The Mavericks on the other hand will be solely focused on tonight after losing to NY earlier this season and will have revenge on mind. With so many distractions, it's hard to believe that the Knicks will put in a solid performance tonight.
Other notable facts to consider:
- Mavericks are 16-9 ATS against Eastern Conference teams!
- Knicks are 6-15 against Western Conference teams!
- Knicks are 5-24 SU as an underdog!
- Knicks are 0-3 ATS as home underdogs of 3.5 to 6 points this season.
