Sports Profit System is confident of a strong MLB month in August! There will of course be both wins and losses throughout the 31 days but it will be an excellent month when it's all over. Then comes September and it is no secret that football has always been our best sport. We outdo any service that is willing to be honest and transparent with results and enjoyed the highest football profit of all in 2013! Not every weekend was a good one but NFL and NCAA football were both lucrative and brought us just over 45 units (not factoring in juice) combined last season!
Take Oakland Athletics (-141) on the Money Line against Tampa Bay Rays risking 2%
(Samardzija and Cobb must start)
Joe Maddon's Tampa Rays travel to Oakland to take on Bob Melvin's athletics in the opener of their 3-game set tonight. The Rays are coming into this series after a disappointing home series against the LA Angels. After yesterday's loss, the Rays had to hop on a long flight to the West coast to begin this series tonight. Tampa is currently 3 games under .500 and as the season winds down, they find themselves on the outside in terms of a possible playoff spot. They are currently 8 games behind the division leading Baltimore Orioles and 5 games out of the second Wildcard spot. What makes matter worse for the Rays is the team currently occupying the second Wildcard spot is their division rivals, the Blue Jays. With Tampa coming into this series having lost 3 of their last 4 games and traded away All Star Ace David Price, confidence and morale can't be high. Travel across the country and having to immediately play is tough and can mess up the internal clock of the body and reduce performance levels. To do so with your playoff hopes dented only to play arguably the best and most balanced team in all of basbeall is an even more duanting task!
Meanwhile the Oakland A's come into this game on a bit of an inconsistent streak. The A's are just 5-5 in their last 10 games and their usually potent offense has been below-par over the last 4 games. That is only temporary however and something we are not used to seeing from this team. The reality is that struggles happen to even the best of teams over the course of a long season and the A's are no different. Bob Melvin's talented squad is still 24 games over .500 and one of the big favorites to make it to the World Series this season! Oakland’s struggles will not last for long, they are too balanced and well coached of a team to continue misfiring. Having lost to the Royals yesterday, the situation is set up for an Oakland bounce back tonight.
The A's have been getting it done with both pitching and hitting this season. The starting rotation has a collective ERA of 3.16 and tonight they have an excellent pitcher in Jeff Samardzija on the mound. The former Cub has had a stellar season although lack of run support at Chicago means his overall record doesn't show it. He has an impressive 2.92 ERA with 130 strikeouts in 144 innings of work! Samardzija is a tough pitcher for any team to handle and tonight the Rays are batting opposite him for the very first time. He is coming off of a rare rough outing against Houston but is not the type of pitcher that does poorly in consecutive starts. We expect him to bounce back from that outing and perform well tonight. It's also worth mentioning that Rays' 2B Logan Forsythe is 0 for 7 against him in his career with no walks and four strikeouts!
For the entire season, Oakland has been one of the strongest home teams in the league. At 35-19, the A's are not a team that loses many games at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. The fact that the A's are coming off of a rare home loss should add to their motivation. The A's have been one of the best teams when bouncing back from a loss this season. They are 27-16 when they have lost their previous game this season and with the Angels breathing down their necks, we expect another win tonight. Offensively, Derek Norris has 10 hits in his last 10 games and Jed Lowrie has hit safely in 7 of his last 10 games! Oakland is the better and more motivated team and doesn't have jetlag issues to deal with.
Other notable facts to consider:
- A's are 4-1 in Jeff Samardzija's last 5 starts.
- A's are 40-19 as a home favorite of -125 to -150 over the last 2 seasons!
- Rays are 18-45 in the last 63 meetings in Oakland.
