Sunday's picks will be posted at noon (12:00 PM ET).

Sports Profit System is confident of a strong MLB month in August! There will of course be both wins and losses throughout the 31 days but it will be an excellent month when it's all over. Then comes September and it is no secret that football has always been our best sport. We outdo any service that is willing to be honest and transparent with results and enjoyed the highest football profit of all in 2013! Not every weekend was a good one but NFL and NCAA football were both lucrative and brought us just over 45 units (not factoring in juice) combined last season!

Take Milwaukee Brewers (-108) on the Money Line against St. Louis Cardinals risking 2%
(Lohse and Masterson must start)

The Cardinals and Brewers square off once again in Game #2 of their 3-game series tonight. The Milwaukee Brewers made a statement in yesterday's series opener tagging Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright for seven runs on nine hits in less than six innings! Milwaukee will look to further establish its position atop the division and extend their lead over the 3rd place Cardinals. The Brewers have been excellent on the road this season (31-23) and playing away from home has not been an issue.

They will send veteran right hander Kyle Lohse to the hill tonight. Lohse has been consistent all season. He is 11-5 in 22 starts and has an excellent 3.05 ERA and 1.10 WHIP! Lohse is a former Cardinal himself, so it will be fun to watch him on the mound against his former team again. He gave up 3 runs and struck out 9 over six innings in his previous start against St. Louis back on April 29th.

The St Louis Cardinals are a team that is struggling at the moment and rank 29th (second worst) in the league in scoring! Yadier Molina was a big part of this offense and since he has been missing from the lineup, they have gone cold. Normally when a key player goes down with injury, it is the responsibility of other players to pick up the slack and fill the void left but that has not happened for the Cardinals. Molina is an excellent catcher and one of the true leaders of his team. Replacing him is no easy task but that's not Mike Matheny's only problem. St Louis is not capitalizing when they have runners on base or in scoring positions and that has hurt them all season. Management is also making some questionable decisions as of late having shipped their top producing player when runners have been in scoring position (Allen Craig) and overusing the closer Rosenthal in certain situations. There are a lot of things broken for the Cardinals at the moment which can't easily be fixed overnight.

The Cardinals will send newly acquired Justin Masterson to the mound tonight. While the change of scenery may prove beneficial in the long run, Masterson has had a terrible season thus far. He is just 4-6 over 19 starts. His ERA is a dismal 5.51 with a WHIP of 1.65! It is tough enough to back a newly acquired pitcher who isn't yet comfortable with his new surroundings, ballpark and new teammates but this will also be Masterson's first start since July 7th after coming off the DL with a knee injury! How he performs is a huge question mark, but all factors considered, it would be unusual for him to be dominant or anywhere near his best. Therefore, it is Kyle Lohse who should have the pitching edge tonight.

Milwaukee was able to tee-off on St Louis' Ace last night and we expect them to be able to mound offense against Masterson who should be a bit rusty in the early going. This is a cheap price to lay with a balanced team that is confident and playing much better baseball.

Other notable facts to consider:

  • Milwaukee is 26-19 against division opponents this season!
  • St. Louis is 1-4 in its last 5 games when playing at home against Milwaukee
  • Cardinals are very rarely underdogs at home but they are in this game for several reasons.
